Easter Vigil, 2014

There was a marked contrast between this year and last year, with Holy Saturday falling on 19th April 2014. On a glorious spring evening, it was still bright when the congregation gathered on the Hill of Slane for the annual lighting of the Paschal Flame.

Carols for Christmas, 2013

Come and join the singing and fun at Carols for Christmas in Slane Church on Tue. night 17th at 7pm. Featuring three local choirs and a visiting choir! On the night of Tuesday, 17th December, the church was the venue for a concert entitled "Carols for Christmas", when all who attended were treated to a wonderful celebration of Christmas carols.

Easter Vigil, 2013

This year, 2013, Holy Saturday fell on 30th March, with the clocks not yet having moved to Summer Time. Fr. Deegan led the annual procession to the Hill of Slane where we lit the annual paschal fire. This year, there was a second paschal flame in front of the main door to the church.

50th International Eucharistic Conference.

Many parishioners attended the 50th International Eucharistic Conference, held in Croke Park. At the request of the Parish Pastoral Council, sacristan Lily Connor wrote a heartfelt letter detailing her feelings about attending this momentous event. You can read that letter by clicking here . Eucharistic Congress Bell visits Slane

The Eucharistic Congress Bell arrived in Slane Church on Saturday, 3rd September, 2011. Fr. Deegan led parishioners to the top of the Hill of Slane, where the group joined to pray for the success of the 50th International Eucharistic Conference.

Fr. Deegan's 25th Anniversary Mass

On Sunday, 19th June 2011, Fr. Deegan led a mass in Slane Church to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of his ordination. It was a joyous occasion made all the more special by the presence of so many of Fr. Joe's family and friends.

On Holy Saturday, 23rd April, 2011, Fr. Deegan led the annual procession to the Hill of Slane. Every year, we light a paschal fire to commemorate the one first lit by St. Patrick. The flames are used to light the torches carried by the altar servers, which are then brought to the church and used to light the Paschal Candle and all the other candles in the church.

Rededication of Monknewtown Church

On Sunday 1st November, 2009, Bishop Michael Smith officiated at the Ceremony of Rededication in the Church of the Assumption, Monknewtown.
